Account Aging . . .

We've made some changes to the code that improves the speed of aging significantly. You should find that this job now runs in about one-third (or less) the time it used to take. This change was implemented in Version 7.7.47.134.

A tip . . .

Have you ever been looking at a customer ledger and want to see where a particular line item came from? Simply place the cursor on the line in question and double-left-click. The system will find the original invoice batch where this transaction originated and display the specific Invoice Detail. When you're done, left-click the close button to immediately return to the customers ledger.

Filters . . .

Virtually all of the reports in the system include a number of "filters". These are very powerful tools and allow you to customize your reports by specifying the information you want to include (or exclude) depending on various criteria. A word of explanation and clarification . . . if you use multiple filters for a particular report, keep in mind that the filters work in combination with each other. That is, the data MUST meet the criteria of ALL of the filters selected to be included in the report.

Here's an example: Let's say that you want to run a Customer Summary Report (CR01) and have selected two filters (by checking the appropriate filter boxes). One filter selects only Account Numbers FROM 1000 THRU 2000. The other filter selects Zip code 12345 (that is, FROM 12345 THRU 12345). In this case, the ONLY data that will appear on the report are those customers with account numbers between 1000 and 2000 who also live in Zip code 12345. If their account number is between 1000 and 2000 but they do not live in Zip code 12345, they will NOT be included. Conversely, if they do live in Zip code 123435 but their account number is not between 1000 and 2000, they will also NOT be included. Obviously, this gets trickier and more restrictive as more filters are used.

We have found that if you are having problems working with the filters, it's because you are probably using too many of them at once. If this is the case, here's what to do: remove all of the filters, run the report, and see what it looks like. Then start applying the filters one at a time and check the report as you go. You'll soon get the idea.
