Lynx Newsletter # 8 (January 2, 2002)

Year-end considerations . . .

Whether or not you have to do anything with the system for year-end depends on whether or not you are using the full Accounts Payable and General Ledger parts of Lynx.

If you are using the General Ledger, then you will need to make your year-end adjustments and create a Journal Entry batch to clear out your sales and expense accounts and adjust your Owners Equity account. See "Year End" in the Help System for detailed instructions on how to do this.

If you are NOT using the General Ledger, the only thing you should do is to go to Company Preferences and set the "Current Year Start" date to 1-1-2002. This date is what's used to calculate your Year-To-Date totals at the bottom left of each customers ledger window.

A new look . . .

As you know, whenever you select a report, a format screen is displayed. After selecting the filters you want to use, the next step is to left-click the "Preview" button.

In the past, the preview of your report would come up "normalized". The problem with this was that the report was so small that it was practically impossible to read without first maximizing the screen . . . a real irritant to many people.

This has now been changed so that the preview screens come up already maximized which makes the reports immediately readable.

By the way . . .

The current version of the Lynx Help System now available for downloading from our web site is Version 4.1.
